The Photo Gallery: What it is and how to use it

When you click on the link to the photo gallery, which is in the Links section, but also here:

it takes you out of the Firehouse Talk website and to a photo gallery of Dallas Fire Department related photographs. I did this as part of a project to organize old photographs at the Dallas Firefighters Museum.

With only a few exceptions, these are not photographs that I took. Most are old photographs that I have either personally scanned at the museum, or that someone else shared with me. Thanks to David Allen and Daniel DeYear for contributing images that they scanned.

You can browse the collection by clicking on any gallery such as "Fire Stations" or "Rookie School Photos"

To see fire scene photos taken in recent years by Box4 member Karen Hoskins, click on the "Karen Hoskins Collection"

You can also use the search feature in the upper right hand corner. Some suggested search terms are ENxx, TRxx, STAxx where "xx" represents the company or station number. For instance, EN04, TR25, STA08. Not all photographs have been tagged, so this will not find all photos in which a given company or station appear. If you can't find what you are looking for, give me a shout and I may be able to help.

The "back" button may not work. If you get lost, just start over.

I am always on the lookout for good DFD related photos. If you have a photo that you think is particularly good and should be part of the collection, please send it to me and I will make sure it becomes part of the museum's collection.

Please also let me know if you find any errors or have suggestions.

Here's a sample of some of the galleries you'll see there (image is not hyperlink):
